MEMBERS EVENING 17/03/2016

With just over a couple of weeks to go until the start of the 2016 golf season, Lady Captain Kathy Cameron welcomed 69 ladies to the Members Evening on Thursday 17th March. After a welcome drink, and chat, we enjoyed a tasty meal, while puzzling over two very tricky quizzes, devised by Heather Dawson. Our speaker for the evening was our very own Charles Dernie who gave his thoughts on the state of women's golf and recounted some of his experiences on tour, as a player and referee.

The whole evening was great fun and thanks must go to the Ladies Committee for their hard work in putting together the evening's programme. The Vote of Thanks was given by Noreen Fordyce.

Kathy reminded ladies that sign up sheets for various matches are in the Locker Room, also the sign-up sheet for the meal after the Captain v Vice Captain opening match on April 1st. Any lady who can't manage the golf is, of course, most welcome to come along for the meal.

LADIES TUESDAY AFTERNOON BRIDGE

The Ladies Tuesday Afternoon Bridge finished  today.  Lady Captain Kathy Cameron presented Joy Niven and Noreen Fordyce, organisers of the bridge afternoons,  with floral tokens in appreciation of all their help and advice to ladies throughout the winter.  Kathy also thanked Moira Stewart and Ann Henry for helping out.

There have been good attendances at bridge all winter and for one lady who has come along just about every afternoon there was a surprise.   Elizabeth Currie is celebrating her 90th Birthday this week and was presented with a  bouquet of flowers from the bridge ladies and a flowering pot plant from the Ladies Committee.

Kathy reminded ladies that thoughts should be turning to GOLF now and hopes to see everyone at the Members Get-together on Thursday 17th March.

FROM THE MATCH SECRETARY

MAIL ON SUNDAY

Many thanks to the ladies pictured above. Heather Dawson, (Captain), Margaret Hunter, Mary Miller, Bronwen Godley and Fiona Johnston, represented Blairgowrie Golf Club in the above named competition against Craigiehill Golf Club today, at Craigiehill.
Conditions were very wet underfoot, but all players were in good mood and in good form to give Blairgowrie a 1st round win, 3-2. against our hosts.

Following the match, the team was provided with a hearty lunch of soup and sandwiches of a varied choice, enjoyed in a very friendly atmosphere.  Heather gave the vote of thanks which was graciously received.   Thanks again ladies for volunteering and be sure to put your name down for the next round.

WEE COURSE LADIES COFFEE MORNING 11/03/2016

(click on the pix to enlarge)
Today saw the first of the 2016 summer programme with a very well attended Wee Course Ladies coffee and chat in front of a lovely warm fire in the lounge.  Our Lady Captain, Kathy Cameron,  started proceedings off by welcoming the ladies and introducing her committee.
She then handed over to Margaret Kerr, Competitions Secretary, who gave a talk on keeping a handicap and competitions available to those interested in doing so but stressed that there was no pressure to enter if a fun day golf was what the ladies wanted.  All rules pertaining to keeping a handicap were handed out and another copy  has been posted on the notice board.
Shirley Irvine, who now represents the Wee Course Ladies on the Ladies Committee,  gave a talk on when the competitions ran.  A warm vote of thanks was given by Vike Brown and Kathy concluded the day by wishing all the ladies have a good summer’s golf
