An Evening of Shenanigans

Last night forty ladies attended the Blairgowrie Ladies Social night which was called an "Evening of Shenanigans" as it took place on St Patrick's Day. Everyone arrived wearing something green and were given a delightful green drink which was a kiwi smoothie. Ladies were then divided into teams with instructions to complete some interesting tasks:
  • Identify the committee member's baby pictures
  • Irish anagrams
  • Irish places
  • What's in the bag
  • Well known Irish sayings
  • Blindfolded putting
  • Write a limerick
Teams had 10  minutes to complete a task before moving on to the next. In between moves, committee members each entertained the audience with an Irish tale or joke. The winning team was called the Green Goddesses: Isobel Murray, Catherine Couts,Norah Hay, Brenda Clough and Norma Fleming who took home a shamrock ball marker. Afterwards, everyone enjoyed a delicious finger buffet served by Jayne and Paul. You will see from the pictures everybody had a good time. Posted below the pictures is the winning limerick composed by Maureen's Leprechauns.

There once was a golfer from blair
Whose wife had a steamy affair
They were caught on the tee
And the pro said-nae me!
And it caused him to have a 'fresh air'!

Last Bridge Day Tuesday March 15th 2011

Today was the last Bridge get together before the start of the golf season. There was an excellent turn out with twenty eight ladies playing at seven tables. According to Joy Niven, our Bridge Convenor, "It was the first time ever, that when the ladies had to move to different tables, they did so without a hitch!" The bridge has been very successful this year with many more ladies coming to play. After the bridge, the ladies were treated to tea and scones. Sandy Bushby, the Lady Captain, presented Joy with a token of the ladies' appreciation for the time and effort she and Noreen Fordyce put into running the bridge so successfully. Speaking of Noreen Fordyce, you will be glad to know that she and Douglas are perfectly safe as their ship managed to avoid the tsunami off the coast of Japan. Pictured below are some of the ladies enjoying their tea and scones after the bridge as well as the presentation to Joy by Sandy.
